Billionaire genius Genoa Greeves never got over the shocking death of her favorite teacher, Bennett “Dr. Ben” Alston Little, murdered execution-style and stuffed into the trunk of his Mercedes-Benz. No arrests were ever made, no killer charged for the brutal crime. Fifteen years later, the high-tech CEO reads about another execution-style murder; this time the victim is a Hollywood music producer named Primo Ekerling. There is no obvious connection, but the case is eerily similar to Little’s and Genoa feels the time is right to close Dr. Ben’s case once and for all—offering the L.A.P.D. a substantial financial “incentive” if justice is finally served for Little.

At 8:15 in the morning, a small commuter plane carrying forty-seven passengers crashes into an apartment building in Granada Hills, California. Shock waves ripple through Los Angeles, as L.A.P.D. Lieutenant Peter Decker works overtime to calm rampant fears of a 9/11-type terror attack. But a grisly mystery lives inside the plane’s charred and twisted wreckage: the unidentified bodies of four extra travelers. And there is no sign of an airline employee who was supposedly on the catastrophic flight.
Combining relentless suspense with intense, multilayered human drama, The Burnt House is Faye Kellerman at her mesmerizing best.

THE FORGOTTEN, number eleven in the Decker/Rina series, illustrates the tremendous and needless pressure that face today’s teenagers. When a synagogue is desecrated, Decker takes more than a personal interest. It is his house of worship. The perpetrator is soon caught, but Decker is never completely satisfied with the confession. The novel also explores Decker’s relationship with his stepsons, particularly Jacob.

JUPITER’S BONES combines my love of science and my fascination with cults in the tenth outing of Decker and Rina. The death of a beloved cult leader, Jupiter, spawns a struggle for power and a lust to be king. Marge Dunn is featured heavily in this book and she comes out quite the hero

SERPENT’S TOOTH is the ninth novel feature Decker and Rina. It explores one of my favorite themes, family pathology. When an elegant restaurant is shot up by unknown assailants, Decker must not only find out who did such a heinous crime, but the reasons behind it. Unable to get to his prime suspect, Decker enlists a little help from his friends.

PRAYERS FOR THE DEAD is one of my most emotionally resonant Decker/Rina novels. It provides not only a glimpse into Rina’s pre-Decker life, but gives a dimensionality to religious beliefs.

JUSTICE, number eight in the series of Decker and Rina, was written in a very different way. Told in first person by the teenaged protagonist, Terry McLaughlin, and in my traditional third person through Decker’s point of view, the story features a homicide in a hotel room that occurred in an after-prom party. The center suspect is a charming but pathologically disturbed teenager who matches Decker not only in height but in wile.
